Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice by name, posted a set of images on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
